Rachel studied at Birmingham Conservatoire with Jonathan Kelly and George Caird and whilst there performed in many concerts as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. Her solo appearances included a performance of an Albinoni double concerto with George Caird and Bach's Brandenburg concerto no2. In 1994 Rachel won the Birmingham and Midland Institute Woodwind Prize and the Rollason award for performance. In 1995 Rachel graduated from Birmingham with a 1st class honours degree and went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study for a postgraduate diploma.
Rachel has since then worked with many orchestras and ensembles including the BBC Concert Orchestra, London Mozart Players, London Gala Orchestra, London Camerata, British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Camerata Roman of Sweden, English Symphony Orchestra, Brunel Ensemble and the East of England Orchestra. Rachel also works as a soloist and chamber musician performing at music clubs around the country.
